  • SWBA to demonstrate safety, first aid and proper lab procedures.

  • Gracie surprise visit – safety demo

September 3/4, 2008
Objective:

  • SWBA to formally show knowledge on safety and introduction of scientific method including the steps and variables.

  • Quiz over safety rules

  • Scientific method notes and discussion

  • Check lab  – group activity

 

September 5/8, 2008
Objective:

  • SWBA to show the steps of experimental design through lab and graphs.

Warm Up:

  • No warm up

  • Penny lab

  • Refer to notes for labs

  • Turn in assignments when you are finished

  • Review sheet for scientific notes – hw if you did not finish in class

 

September 9/10, 2008
Objective:

  • SWBA to review living characteristics things and explore the parts of ecology.

Warm Up:

  • Explain why we do experiments?
  • What are the 6 steps of scientific method?

  • Test over chapter 1
  • Turn in your review
  • Crossword puzzle over chapter 2

  • SWBA to understand the correlation between food chains and food webs

Warm Up:

  • No warm ups due to change of classrooms

  • Discussion events from the hurricane

  • We are now in a new classroom – B200 – due to hurricane

  • Ecology notes

  • Graded papers handed back, progress reports given

 

October 1/2, 2008

Objective:

  • SWBA to discuss relationships in science and relate it to the food chain.

Warm Up:

  • No warm ups due to change of classrooms

Announcement:

  • Food chain discussion

  • Food chain demonstration – students are food chains

  • Any late work needs to be turned in by end of week.

 

October 3/6, 2008
Objective:

  • SWBA to create a food web based on given examples.

Warm Up:

  • No warm ups due to change of classrooms

Announcement:

  • Food web story- finish for hw if not done

  • Discuss relationships in science

 

October 7/8, 2008
Objective:

  • SWBA to understand steps of succession and the types of succession in ecosystem.

Warm Up:

  • What is a food web?
  • What is succession?

Announcement:

  • 3D pyramid to show food chain correlation to energy

  • Food web story and pyramid is due next class period.

 

October 9/10, 2008
Objective:

  • SWBA to understand population trends related to graphs and the food web.

Warm Up:

  • Give an example of a food drain.
  • Give and example of primary succsion?

Announcement:

  • Turn in food web and 3D pyramid.

  • Chapter 3 worksheet.  Turn in.  Pick up ch. 4/5 worksheet.  Turn in.

  • Check out seating chart - sit in correct seat.

  • Hall passes - start next class period.  Teacher will give new ones.  Green passes Voided.

  • Extra credit - Due Oct. 16/17. Given Today.

  • Bring toilet paper and paper towel rolls for gerbils.

 

October 13/14, 2008
Objective:

  • SWBA to demonstrate learning by reviewing topics discussed within ecology including food chains/webs, succession, population curve and graphs.

Warm Up:

  • Explain why Galveston going through secondary succession?
  • What arelimiting factors?

Announcement:

  • Review sheet for ecology test – if you did not finish in class, it is hw

  • Test next period

  • All assignments for ecology due

  • Project information handed out – food chain assignment

 

October 15/16, 2008
Objective:

  • SWBA to formally demonstrate learned topics from ecology unit.

Warm Up:

  • List the levels of orginazion.
  • Why are humans a part of the food cell?

Announcement:

  • Test this period – may use the review if you did it.

  • If you need help on project, let me know.

  • Nine weeks ending soon.  Nine weeks testing on board.

 

October 17/20, 2008
Objective:

  • SWBA to review for Nine weeks test.

Warm Up:

  • No warm ups due to reviewing for nine weeks test

Announcement:

  • You may use a 3 x 5 card on the nine weeks test.

  • You will get extra credit for the index card

  • Look at board for schedule

 

October 21/22, 2008
Objective:

  • SWBA to demonstrate the different biomolecules in the body.

Warm Up:

  • None due to taking nine weeks test.

Announcement:

  • If you have your index card, you may use it.

  • You need a pencil, you do not have one, you may borrow one from me.

  • After the test, work on chapter 6 worksheet

 

October 23/24, 2008
Objective:

  • SWBA to demonstrate the different biomolecules in the body.

Warm Up:

  • None due to taking nine weeks test.

Announcement:

  • If you have your index card, you may use it.

  • You need a pencil, you do not have one, you may borrow one from me.

  • After the test, work on chapter 6 worksheet
